The northern side of Attica is characterised by high mountains and lush greenery. Therefore, the northern suburbs have traditionally been the residential area of wealthy families that opted to live close to nature and away from the bustle of the cities.

A few kilometres from the city centre are the districts of Psychiko and Philothei. Home to a majority of foreign ambassadors, this area is famous for its many important attractions and an abundance of large parks and open spaces.

The undoubted centre of the northern suburbs of Attica is Kifissia, gathering together all the big names in Athens’ shopping, gastronomy and nightlife scenes. Surrounding Kifissia are the suburbs of Nea Erythrea, Ekali, Pendeli, Agia Paraskevi, Halandri and Maroussi.
