Theotokos Kecharitomeni Monastery

A short distance south-east of the village of Troezen lies the Theotokos Kecharitomene Monastery. This contemporary monastery was built by Father Epiphanios Theodoropoulos in 1976, with the first monks settling here one year later on the Virgin Mary’s name day. The monastery’s construction was paid for by donations of the faithful.

Today, the monastery houses 20 monks, focusing on charitable work throughout the region. This all-male monastery is one of only two inaccessible monasteries in the towns of Hydra, Spetses, Aegina, Ermioni and Troezen.
