Today’s Ethnikos Sports Club (ESC) was built in 1905 when club administrators decided to move the club from its site on Kifissias Avenue to its present location opposite the Zappeion Gardens.

The original club was founded in 1893, when its athletes and supporting teams abandoned Panellinios and established a new club with high athletic ambitions. Throughout the years, many successful athletes have been members of this exclusive club, among them numerous Olympic medallists.

Today this manicured area along the now-dry banks of the Ilyssos has been beautifully arranged to showcase archaeological sites, historic churches, wide avenues and, of course, Ethnikos Sports Club, which was completely renovated in 2004.
