Bouboulina Museum

Τhe Bouboulina Museum first opened in 1991 by Laskarina Bouboulina’s descendants, with the purpose of saving the heroine’s mansion from imminent collapse. Since opening, it has been visited by over 800,000 people (including approximately 200,000 students), who have all been moved by the fascinating story of this heroine of the 1821 Greek War of Independence, who until recently had the honour of being the only female Admiral in world Naval history.

During the tour of the mansion, visitors may admire collections of weapons, old books, porcelains, documents and letter of the Revolution, paintings and models of war ships, the heroine’s personal items, embroidery, Byzantine icons, furniture and the stunning carved ceiling from Florence in the grand salon of the mansion.
